he Dongsha atoll covers an area of 500 square kilometers.The Dongsha atoll lagoon is formed by the reef platform which surrounds it on all sides. The ecological environment within the lagoon is very divers.Patch reefs dot the white coral sands, and some are as magnificent as castles. Nearby the shallow waters of the Dongsha Island is an expansive seagrass bed. This is where the majority of life begins in the atoll.
